70-80, Now I’m Wolverine!!!

Posted in Leveling with tags , , , , , , on October 29, 2012 by sylus

What a whirlwind of a weekend for me in Wow. It felt like I played a ton this weekend, but looking back, I may have had an extra hour… Maybe? My play schedule usually revolves around when our little ones are asleep. Now,if you have, or have had two little ones at home, 3 and 1, then you realize that this is usually not very much time when both are asleep, everything that needs completed(housework, homework, yard work, cooking, errands, lesson plans…you all know the drill) is done, and you have some spare energy left over to commit to some gaming. I had an extra day off Friday due to parent teacher conferences last week, so technically I got an extra hour and a half Friday when both kids were down, somehow, at the same time for a nap! I played Friday night for about two hours, Saturday at nap time for another two hours, I didn’t have the energy to play Saturday night, so I instead watched some Big Bang Theory with the wife, and played during naps Sunday afternoon. When I quit Sunday I was two bubbles from 80. Later that day I snuck off, did three quests, and was done. 80. Boom. Milestone.

No, if this was two expansions ago, I would be ready to start gearing up my little monk, too bad this isn’t two expansions ago… I still have the slog from 80-90. The big slow down in leveling is about to start, half of my leveling gear turns to mush, further slowing down my slow crawl to 90… Oi. On the bright side, I haven’t leveled a hundred toons through cata and panda yet, so I am excited about that prospect. The content will seem fresher, and I won’t feel as bad about going through it slower.

On another great note from this weekend, I was able to acquire the Sunstone Panther! I got it for a steal off of the AH. Now, I know the mats alone run well over 20k, making the 20K I paid for it seem like a huge steal!!! It is so far my favorite mount. Had it been the sapphire panther, I would feel better about it, as that is beautiful, and blue is my favorite color… Why did I hear that crappy Aerosmith song “pink” in my head as I typed that…. Anyway…

On November 10th I’m having a gaming day with Nimrock and friend to the blog, Spiffie. Now, my goal is to hit 90 that day. We are starting around 7ish that morning, and gaming as late as I an handle. We will do a few instances, as I want to see all of the panda ones, but I plan on mostly questing. That gives me roughly two weeks to get ready for this day of dinging 90 awesomeness. It can be done, even on my meager play schedule.

What I need from you studly “I’ve already got four toons to 90″ gamers is this: what level should I be at when I start gaming that Saturday? Basically, how long did it take you to go through panda content? Should I be sitting at 85, and a good 18-20 hours would get me there? Should I be sitting at 88? Is two levels doable on that final day? I really don’t know, as I’ve really done nothing in game but level my monk, who is now 80, with just under two days played time. Help a monk out! I’ll take full advantage of the monk daily with enlightenment, doing that every day. I’ll play a few evenings each week, and get a few good hours in next weekend. I can easily see myself at 85 without pushing it, but I really think I need to push further into panda stuff… Thoughts? Comments? Helps?

Now, one of my favorite parts of hitting 80 is doing away with my heirloom weapons. They stop getting better at 80, and I really want to use fist weapons! The ones you can buy in the monk zone at 80 look fierce. I mean seriously fierce. Best looking I’ve seen in quite a while. Here is a pic I took shortly after dinging 80, equipping my weapons of awesome, and doing my very best Wolverine impression. I’ll leave you with this for the day. Enjoy.

I aim to misbehave.

Monday, BigBearButt posted about his anger and disappointment with Blizzard for how they’ve handled the reputation armor pieces. Basically, you need to get your rep up to a certain level and then spend Justice or Valor to buy those pieces.  I, myself, felt this very thing when Halk hit 90 and I started looking for ways to upgrade my gear, since Blizzard is on a kick to make all the top trainer learned recipes to not be top level and the patterns you need to level up to 600 are PvP, which I don’t do. I realize they are pretty decent for PvE, but it’s a principle, why not let me get level 90 PvE blues from Leatherworking?

In no way am I preparing to quit the game. No, I am really enjoying the game and have my 3 plots of land for Tiller farming and I am working on the Golden Lotus rep, not every day, but most days. I was getting Golden Lotus rep to get the leatherworking patterns, but now I am thinking I might drop leatherworking and just have two gathering professions.

Skullreaver is not a raiding guild. We have a few 90’s and I am not sure have much more than 10 unique accounts. Most of the time we might have 1 or 2 people on. By the way, if you’d be interested in a really casual, but really nice guild, who is not level 25, but working on it, the Skullreaver is open to new members. We have big plans. We also have real lives, with families and time constraints and altism. Although, I do have a confession to make. I’ve spent a ton of gold and time building my leveling sets and I find myself not really wanting to play anyone but Halkale. I log into Punkinpie to run my AH stuff. I log into Knicknack to do his daily minor glyph research and when he has max rested to level him through healing LFG. I am trying to log into Crispers here and there and level him to get the Dynamic Duo and Double Agent achievements.

But, my first love is now my only true love. I love Halkale, love being a hunter. Love trying new things, taking on bigger and bigger packs and keeping my Turtle (He needs a name) healed and holding aggro. My Turtle is the Rare you have to track down, use a flare to see and tame. I think most of the pets I love the most are the ones I spent time either camping a spawn spot (Winterschill – Wolf Spirit Beast), running way up north into Night Elf area to open statues to tame when I was only 24-25 (Szablya – Ghost Saber) or had to tame while in some phase (Donteatme – translucent Worm from Wrath) or hunt down, Turtle (Bloodtooth).

I’d like to raid, but first I need to get my iLevel up. I need to start running Heroics. I know the queue times will suck as DPS, but I can queue and then farm or do dailies. I still have several zones to finish questing in, since I dinged just after I started Townlong.  I am about halfway through Friendly with Golden Lotus, wondering if I should get to Honored by the recipes and get them done for Halk, before I drop Leatherworking. I have about 8k gold and quite a lot of leather in my bank.

Whatever happens. I know I love playing the game right now.

No, my turtle’s name is not bonnet.

Lok’tar friends,

So this would have been my second week in a row without posting anything to this here blog (had I skipped it). Instead, I decided to stop by to let everyone know that I’ve unofficially been officially taking an unofficial break from the game. Or something like that.

In place of a post about WoW, I’ve decided to leave you with a few screenshots of something I think that is awesome, always has been awesome and will always be awesome.

Enjoy!

and finally…

Stay Hordecore,

Play the Game

Posted in Random on October 23, 2012 by Nimrock

It’s been a couple of weeks since I posted here. That’s because it was a couple of weeks where I didn’t play much and if I did play, it was only long enough to harvest my carrots. However, last weekend, I did get a solid block of play time and got a lot accomplished. I got a lot accomplished especially considering that I’m usually the sort of WoW player to get about 25% of the way into any activity and then suddenly have the desire to log out and start a new alt. This time, however, things are different. By “this time” I mean this expansion, in fact.

The sheer amount of fun things to do at level 90 is stunning. I’ve been working on “fun rep” like Tillers and Anglers. I’ve been working on “srs rep” like the Golden Lotus. I’ve been working my way through all the zones in Pandaria; I’ve only got Krassafrassarang left. Dread Wastes was fun, and as a result, I’m already honored with the Klaxxi. (Best faction in the game, by the way. If Blizz ever adds the title “The Wakener” I’ll sell them my first born.) Even blacksmithing and engineering seem fun in comparison to last time because the better items also give more skill ups, saving me time and gold. Because of that, i actually got my gear level up high enough to do heroics. Heroics are fun. Harder than Wrath, easier than BC.

I haven’t even started in on pet battles, transmogging, challenge modes or a panda alt.

Here’s my point: If you think the end game consists of just raiding and getting ready to raid, you’re missing out. And if you buy into the people who say you’re “doing it wrong” if you aren’t killing yourself doing dailies to get exalted with a faction to buy a piece of gear that gives you a 1% stat boost, give yourself a break. Go talk to Mung-Mung in the Valley of the Four Winds. Free a Klaxxi from amber. Farm up a mini-pet. Make some gear and give it to a new level 90.

Just, play the game.

Leveling and Transmogging

Welcome back everyone to your favorite Horde-centric, multiblogger, random horde blog on WordPress. Yeah, I’m being a bit specific on this one, but hey, we really need to narrow down the audience right? I mean, without naming you guys, which we may have in the past I’m not sure, I’m not sure what to call you. So, until further notice, and we come up with a better name for you guys, I’ll call you Steve.

So, Steve, I hope your weekend was as good as mine. Real life was awesome, took the kids to a pumpkin patch/farm and had fun thing the little ones tank the headless horseman… Wait, I’m getting in game mixed up with retail life again… That happens from time to time. We did go to a pumpkin patch, there wasn’t a headless horseman giving away candy, trinkets, mounts and helmets, but we had fun none the less.

In game, Hallow’s end started up and everyone has been enjoying this… Me not so much, I’ve just been leveling my monk. He hit 69 this weekend, which was only a level off of my goal. I knew I would be pushing things to get to 70, but I thought, hey, let’s shoot for the stars. What amazed me was how far I went this weekend. I started out at 62 and I only had to do parts of hellfire and nagrand to get to 68, then I dropped everything and made a mad dash for northrend. It felt good to be back on Azeroth. Random thought, It’s a really weird feeling knowing you are on another planet… Outland is another planet… Huh, I guess I never gave it much thought.

Anyway, so I hit 68 and headed for Borean Tundra. That was fun. That zone did a good job introducing you to northrend, new races, new questing styles, and a very “cold” feel to the landscape. It did a great job transitioning into some of the more advanced zones.

I’m fully convinced I could have hit 70 this past weekend if not for one little, very addicting thing. Transmogrification. Yup, I’m still Transmogging every upgrade I get. Spending 10 minutes every gear upgrade while questing zoning back to Org, mogging the gear, and zoning back. Seriously… It’s really sad. Well, if everything goes well, I’ll be sitting at 74 by the end of the week, so I can push through to 80 next weekend. We’ll see, but either way, it’s a goal.

A quick word

Just a quick little post to let you know what’s going on. No, 4thehorde isn’t going away, I know we’ve been a little quiet in the post department, though. Real life has crept up on us and a couple of us haven’t been able to log in for a week or so.

My issue is reoccurring issue with tendonitis in my right wrist. The Sunday raid with BigBearButt in ICC really aggravated it. Basically, I am a mouse clicker, keyboard turning player. To be honest, it’s really not an issue for me, because I don’t PvP much. After this bout with tendonitis, I’ve decided to retrain myself to use the mouse to turn and the keybinds to use my abilities. It’s a lot to relearn.

But, right now, I am taking a break from the game to give my wrist some rest. I haven’t even logged in to harvest my vegetables. I am enjoying WOW enough to know I won’t stop with just harvesting.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Zen Flight is Alright

I am in love with monk Zen flight. I hit 60 last night and went straight to my trainers, learned the glyph, and here I am, floating out front of Grommash Hold.
