The Original Iron Chef
Today’s Secret Ingredient Is:
Chilled Meat!!!
I wear plate and I cook. Get it? Iron Chef
And don’t start with me, cooking is totally manly.
What? You people can sew, draw pictures and wave your wand around in the air like bad a vegas magician but I’m not allowed to cook?!
That’s what I thought.
So, today I want to toss out a few good reasons I think justify the time it takes to level up cooking.
1. Food buffs
This is the easiest way to improve your character with minimum investment. Don’t believe me? Observe:
Enchant Bracer-Major Stamina
Permanently enchant bracers to increase stamina by 40.
Requires: 4 Greater Cosmic Essence and 1 Abyss Crystal
+
Enchant Weapon-Accuracy
Permanently enchant a melee weapon to increase critical strike and hit rating by 25.
Requires: 20 Infinite Dust, 4 Greater Cosmic Essence, 4 Dream Shard, 6 Abyss Crystal
VS.
Snapper Extreme
Restores 15000 health and 12960 mana over 30 sec. If you spend at least 10 seconds eating you will become well fed and gain 40 Hit Rating and 40 Stamina for 1.00 hour.
Requires: 3 Bonescale Snapper, 1 Northern Spices
-or-
Spicy Blue Nettlefish
Restores 15000 health and 12960 mana over 30 sec. If you spend at least 10 seconds eating you will become well fed and gain 40 Critical Strike Rating and 40 Stamina for 1.00 hour.
Requires: 1 Nettlefish, 1 Northern Spices
Whazzat? Yeah, thought so.
As a tank I prefer some nice Dragonfin Filet. 40 strength and 40 stamina. Besides, gotta have your omega-3’s right?
Ok, so I’ve convinced you that food is a good idea. But you could simply have some other chump who does all your cooking for you, right? Sure, but there are other benefits.
2. Easy Dailies
The Dalaran cooking dailies are, without question the easiest dailies I’ve ever done. Way sweeter than stealing puppies, polishing a helm or (shudder) killing dragons. Only one of 5 requires you to even leave Dalaran! If you’ve any alts in their 70’s, you’re going to have more meat than you know what to do with. Turn that meat into easy gold!
These cooking dailies have several rewards. From any given daily, performed at level 80, you will receive:
1 Dalaran cooking award
1 Bag of spices
15 gold
150 Kirin Tor rep
The cooking award is used to buy recipes or spices from the cooking vendor. Inside the bag of spices you’ll find some Northern Spices plus a chance to get old spices, in case you hang with any forsaken, and a chance to get baby spices, for when that tauren wearing a big hat sits right in front of you in the theatre!
If all you do is complete the daily, trade your cooking award for 10 spice and post it all on the AH, you’ll make a profit. If you use the spices to cook food you stand to gain even more.
So, you’re smart enough to see the need for good buff food and you’ve decided making easy gold is ok. There’s another benefit.
3. Booze
You can make yer own booze!
Kungaloosh, Hot Apple Cider, Egg Nog and my personal favorite Captain Rumsey’s Lager are all created with cooking. Open your own bar, get that Brewmaster title and get to work!

Allez cuisine indeed.

That achievement is wrong.
The cake certainly is a lie

Where in Hades do you get the recipe for Captain Rumesey’s Lager?

@ Aboo, it comes from the Bag of Fishing treasures that’s a reward from the fishing daily. Expect a post extolling the virtues of fishing shortly
@ Pie, one question. What do children eat on their birthday? Do you really think the happiness of children is a lie? Thought so.

@nimmy
One word…brainwashing.
The children (side note: why does no one ever think of the childrens?) are brainwashed.
Offer said kids ice cream and pie and I’ll bet you get kids coming out of their cocoon matrix existences and standing up for Pie.

Ouch… Fishing Dailly. I have leveled my fishing to 331 just waiting in Org for parties to fill up. Leveling fishing on purpose makes me cry.

Oh, but if you’re 331 and have a Aquadynamic Fish Attractor, you *should be able to complete any of the Outlands fishing dailies! yay
*should as in “hopefully, pretty sure you can, i think”
